From 1 April 2026, every misfuel disposal event in New Zealand must be filed on the National Misfuel Disposal Register maintained by NZIFDA. For Customers in Dispute
If a customer's insurer attempts to dispute the recovery work, the NZIFDA filing provides an independent, dated record of the event. It is not self-reported — it is an official register entry. That matters when the dispute involves whether work was genuinely necessary.
