The NZIFDA Oil Disposal Register

From 1 January 2026, the New Zealand Insoluble Fuel Disposal Agency (NZIFDA) extended its disposal register — previously covering only fuel contamination events — to include engine oil contamination events handled by certified operators. Every EEK Mechanical oil contamination job is filed on this register automatically as part of our Tier 1 certification obligations.

What Gets Filed

Each filing includes: the vehicle registration; the date and location of the service; the type and volume of contamination; the certified technician's NZIFDA member number; the disposal contractor used; and the disposal facility reference number. This creates a permanent, auditable record of the event.

Why It Exists

The register serves several purposes: it creates a national record of oil contamination events for environmental monitoring; it enables NZIFDA to identify non-certified operators disposing of contaminated oil improperly; it provides a verification mechanism for insurance claims; and it supports enforcement of the Waste Minimisation Act by tracking hazardous material flows.

Your Certificate

Your NZIFDA filing reference number appears on every EEK Mechanical oil contamination invoice. You can use this reference to verify your filing at nzifda.org. The filing is included in the Platform, Compliance & Coordination fee on your invoice.
