What Is a Disposal Certificate?

An oil contamination disposal certificate is a formal document issued by a certified waste handler — in our case, EEK Mechanical acting as a licensed hazardous waste handler — confirming that a specific volume of contaminated oil was removed from a specific vehicle and disposed of through an approved facility. It forms part of the waste transfer chain required under New Zealand's Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act and the Waste Minimisation Act.

When You Need One

You may need a disposal certificate as part of an insurance claim (many insurers require proof of proper disposal before settling a claim); for compliance with NZIFDA's Oil Disposal Register (required for all certified operators); as evidence in a warranty or Consumer Guarantees Act dispute; or as part of a vehicle sale to demonstrate the issue was professionally resolved.

What EEK Mechanical Provides

Every EEK Mechanical oil contamination job includes: a job completion certificate; an itemised invoice; an Oil Contamination Assessment Report; and a disposal certificate confirming the volume of oil removed and the certified waste contractor used. These documents are emailed within minutes of job completion.

Record-Keeping

We recommend keeping these documents with your vehicle's service records. In the event of any future dispute or insurance claim relating to the contamination event, having original documentation from the day of service is your best protection.
